John Paul Stanley
I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and enjoyed the outdoors and visual arts that surrounded me. I love to travel and soon after I graduated from the university in design and illustration I ventured off to Europe to travel and sketch. Upon returning from Europe with new creative juices flowing I pursued a Masters degree in art.
Along with enjoying travel I am an extrovert that likes being around people. That is one reason I enjoyed teaching the arts full time at a college in Madison, Wisconsin for a number of years and have continued to teach part time presently. After teaching full time I ran an Art Agency servicing large and small businesses in the Bay Area for over fifteen years. I gave up the agency to be the art director at Internet startups in Silicon Valley for about five years. These opportunities all enhanced my skills in traditional art media and computer art software.
Currently my wife and I enjoy living in the Sierra Nevada foothills of California. I have found plenty of places around California to travel and sketch. In 2019 we enjoyed a extensive trip through Europe. I have created both ink line sketches and full color art recording the places we have visited.
